History of the Keystone Indoor Electric Fly
The First Keystone Indoor Electric Fly took place on October 18th, & 19th, 2008.
The event was held just outside of Williamsport, Pa in the Generations Sports Complex Dome, the largest air suspended dome in the country!
Many of you northeast pilots may recall that this event (KIEF) was set to take place on March 2, and 3rd 2007 in Scranton. Unfortunately the dome was
ruined in a freak snowstorm three weeks before the event. Well, we regrouped and made the move to the GSC Dome.
We are planning KIEF 2009 with a ton of flying as this fun fly will start Friday at 9 am - 11 pm, Saturday at 9 am - 11 pm and Sunday 8 am - 5 pm.
Lots of things planned from demos at noon to night flying, micro scale competitions, indoor pattern competition (F3P), seminars, vendors, combat and more.
One of the cool things about this dome (besides it’s huge size and ample pit/vendor areas) is it has two separate flying areas that are separated with a floor to ceiling net.
What does this mean? MORE FLYING! While special short events take place, pilots can still fly in the other flight area! Very little down time.
While this is not only an AMA sanctioned event it will be supported by our AMA president and district VP.
We welcome Bob and Dave and hope they bring lots of planes!
